| Our skin has a natural need to use vitamins, minerals and other anti-free radical substances to operate the antioxidant enzyme chain and thus combat oxidative stress. Zinc, selenium, vitamin E and vitamin C are used naturally by this enzyme chain but when these elements are no longer present in sufficient quantity, the system is overwhelmed, causing an accumulation of free radicals in the layers of the epidermis giving rise to sunburn and skin ageing. This is why it is essential to obtain supplementation of these ingredients. |
| Other ingredients, too, provide effective control of free radicals : |
|
|
- beta-carotene, which contributes to cell wholeness and growth. It has photoprotective activity and
makes it possible
to raise the sun protection threshold. Moreover, it promotes skin tanning.
- turmeric, containing curcumin, which inhibits lipid peroxidation and neutralises superoxide
and hydroxyl radicals,
thus controlling the oxidative stress induced by UV rays.
